MERLE Hnos S.A.I.C. history began in 1950, when Antonio Merle started
a small mechanical activity in Villa Lynch neighborhood, Buenos Aires,
Argentina. At the time, he worked in a company that manufactured industrial
parts as lathe works, brass and nozzles for gas, automatic lathes, matrix
for locks, among other things. During those years, Antonio Merle began
to know more about his occupation and with his brother Jacobo Merle decided
to create their own company. |

MERLE Hnos S.A.I.C. was founded in 1953 by Jacobo and Antonio Merle, two
brothers coming from Yugoslavia, of a German colony, who began to manufacture
locks for different types of applications in metallic and wooden furniture. |
The
first years of Cerraduras MERLE Hnos S.A.I.C. were very difficult. They
began in a small workshop built behind their house's henhouse, in Villa
Ballester. They manufactured their own tools and bought their first machinery
in auctions, which they, later, conditioned for their specific necessities. |

By
the year 1961 they bought the first shed where they assembled and stocked
all the manufactured locks. That same year, they bought new machinery,
achieving a production capacity of 800.000 monthly locks, with a number
of employees that where up to 25 people. |

Later
in 1970, with the collaboration of many argentinean people, cerraduras
MERLE Hnos S.A.I.C. was growing up, enlarging its factory to 2000 m2,
increasing the number of employees to 80 people, investing in processes,
continuously improving the quality, increasing the production capacity
and qualifying the whole personnel, being able to offer one of the wider
and more diverse lines of locks of own production that can exist in the
market. |

In
the 80s, Hugo Merle (Jacobo Merle's son) assumes as president and Antonio
E. Merle (Antonio Merle's son) assumes as Vice-President of Cerraduras
MERLE Hnos.. |
Hugo
and Antonio's Philosophy was to use the resources for the business development,
through a continuous investment in last generation machinery and industrial
equipment, as well to promote a constant appraisement of human resources
inside the organization. |

total leadership since 1980's owning nowadays a 99% of national production's
market share. |
